Guide tour Zarautz
Zarautz is first and foremost, a beach holiday destination. The town is home to the longest beach in the Spanish Basque Country and also to famous waves that attract surfers from all over the world. If you are looking for a beach destination that is a little bit more laid back than San Sebastian but still has amenities within walking distance, then Zarautz might be a good choice.
Surfing is one of the most popular sports in Zarautz. The waves of Zarautz are famous worldwide and several competitions are held here throughout the year. Every September the town is home to the Rip Curl Pro Surf Zarautz championship.

Zarautz’s beach is ideal for surfing: there aren’t big currents, there are good waves all year around, regardless of the tides. However, generally speaking summer is the best time for beginners and winter for experts. Autumn is known as the “surfing season” because it is when the conditions are usually best for experienced surfers.

Surf Zarautz, surf spot review
Zarautz is located at the North East coast of Spain very close from the border with France.
It features a long beach that holds consistent swell and the quality of the waves usually is pretty good.
Despite in summer time can get crowded, the rest of the year is a great place to surf in a very calm environment.
Moreover Surf Rental headquarters are located here so is the perfect spot to pick your rental surfboard and go straight to try it.

High performance rental shortboard: Rusty Dozer
Now that the powerful winter swells are approaching to the Basque Country, it is time to find a high performance board that will allow you enjoying these conditions with a suitable equipment.
Our Rusty Dozer rental board is a polyvalent shape that works great with small wave conditions but when the swell increases it will still hold big take offs and bottom turns.
This surfboard is available in 5’8. If you standard board is a 6’0 with around 30l volume, you will really enjoy surfing a smaller board with similar volume.
